Aims of IEA Bioenergy Task 42

The framework of the activities of IEA Bioenergy Task 42 is the sustainable processing of biomass into a spectrum of Biobased Products and Bioenergy.

The aims of Task 42 are:

  1. Assess the worldwide position and potential for biorefineries.
  2. Gather new insights for the simultaneous production of human food, animal feed, chemicals, materials, fuels, power and/or heat from biomass in a socially and environmentally acceptable and economically profitable way.

High-Level Policy Maker Conference, 5 October 2011, Copenhagen

This conference will bring together a panel of high-level speakers to discuss key policy priorities in the field of biorefinery, from the upcoming Bio-economy strategy to the flagship initiative on a resource-efficient Europe. One of the highlights of the event will be the official publication of the Joint European Biorefinery Vision for 2030 and the Joint European Research Roadmap 2020.

Conference on Advanced Biofuels in a Biorefinery Approach, February 28 - March 1, 2012 Copenhagen

The conference will cover the latest developments in advanced biofuels and biorefinery technology, with a special focus on integration of technology, biology and infrastructure. The conference is coordinated with meetings in the two IEA Bioenergy networks Task 39 (Commercializing liquid biofuels from biomass) and Task 42 (Biorefineries).
